
Lake Travis is made up of several small towns and communities that govern the majority of the area. Each town has its own unique police, fire, emergency and D.A.R.E. programs operating in the community.
Bee Cave prides itself on having a newly installed police force and officially began 24/7-coverage on October 1, 2005. The department will begin developing residential and business crime watch programs including a “Close Patrol” where a resident or business owner may authorize a patrol officer to walk the property during an owner’s absence.
The City of Lakeway provides a modern government and emergency service program to its residents. Chief among them is the Lakeway Emergency Management, which is responsible for coordinating the City of Lakeway’s preparation for and response to emergency situations.
The Hudson Bend Fire Department provides Fire and Rescue services District 6 of Travis County. The Hudson Bend Fire/Rescue is dedicated to protect life and property through suppression, education, code enforcement, investigation and community involvement.
Briarcliff is governed by two governing bodies: The Briarcliff Property Owners Association (BPOA) and the Village of Briarcliff. The Briarcliff Property Owners Association has a nine-member board of directors. Each board member serves a three-year term with three new board members elected each year. The Village of Briarcliff operates under a mayor and council of five aldermen. Fire and medical services are provided by the Pedernales Emergency Services.
