The quality of residential development in Mansfield is outstanding. Many of the developments contain numerous amenities such as access to golf courses, swimming pools, tennis courts, playgrounds, natural lakes and jogging trails. Beautiful tree-lined Walnut Creek is not only Mansfield’s premier attraction for potential homebuyers, but is also a stepping stone for park development. Taking advantage of the creek’s natural beauty, Mansfield is in the process of tying its entire parks system plus the historic downtown together with the creek. With over 500 acres of both developed and undeveloped parkland, area residents can play in organized youth and adult sports, shoot hoops or just enjoy a walk along the water.
In contrast to other major metropolitan areas, the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex offers prospective homebuyers and renters an excellent value for their housing dollar. Mansfield’s cost of living is lower than the majority of U.S. major metropolitan areas, and it is one of the safest communities in the region.
Home prices range from less than $100,000 to over $300,000 with the average new single-family dwelling built in 2006 valued at $239,000 and the average annual family income estimated to be $91,878. Average home values have increased almost 60 percent since 1998. The median rental price is $475.
Mansfield is poised for greater growth. Although Mansfield is the third largest city in Tarrant County by area, approximately 62 percent of the city’s 38 square miles of land is undeveloped. Plans are in place to assure healthy development that doesn’t jeopardize Mansfield’s characteristic neighborliness.
Mansfield is also dedicated to its seniors. The senior activities program (Young At Heart) is open each Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., except on some holidays. Programs are for age 55 and up. A nutritious well-balanced meal is served daily Monday through Friday at 12:00 noon. Transportation is provided Monday through Friday to and from the Mansfield Activities Center (MAC) for senior citizens residing within the city limits of Mansfield. Numerous services and activities are available.
