

Mansfield is served by the Mansfield Independent School District and is recognized for its strong academic and extra-curricular programs. The MISD vision is to provide a superior education to each student within our diverse community by encouraging mutual respect and enthusiasm for learning in a safe and friendly environment. More than 60 percent of Mansfield residents have continued their education, with 22 percent earning bachelor degrees and nine percent earning graduate/professional degrees.
MISD is one of the fastest growing school districts in Texas with a student population of nearly 30,000. Strategically located in the heart of North Texas, MISD spans 94.5 square miles in Tarrant, Ellis and Johnson counties, within city limits of Mansfield, south Arlington, west Grand Prairie and the community of Rendon. MISD has a growth rate of 7-9 percent each year. The 2006-07 Student/Teacher Ratios are: Elementary 22-1; Intermediate 27-1; Secondary 28-1.
The class of 2007 graduates: 91 percent went on to higher education; three percent went into the military; and $4 million total amount of scholarship offers.
In 2007, the district opened its fourth high school – Mansfield Legacy High School – and will open High School number five in 2011.
Mansfield High School has been selected as a National Model High School, one of 25 chosen throughout the country. T.A. Howard Middle School has been recognized by Texas Monthly magazine as one of the top 10 middle schools in the state.

The Dallas/Fort Worth area presents a multitude of top-notch universities, community colleges, professional schools and vocational training, including: Southern Methodist University; Texas Christian University; University of Texas at Dallas and at Arlington; Dallas Community College; Baylor College of Dentistry; Southwestern Medical School; Texas Wesleyan College School of Law; American Trades Institute; Computer Career Training; and Dallas Baptist University.
