The Corporation for the Economic Development of Midlothian (CEDM) is proud to represent the citizens of Midlothian and Northwest Ellis County in recruiting new business and industry to the area. Midlothian is a progressive community that not only welcomes but also encourages new industrial and commercial neighbors to maintain a strong, diversified economic base. Companies and families that locate here will find a very friendly group of people who will assist in any way to help them succeed and feel welcome. The citizens of Midlothian have a strong work ethic and a deep sense of values.
Midlothian is ideally located, providing immediate access to employment, a wide variety of entertainment and a metropolitan lifestyle, but it is removed enough from the congestion of the Metroplex for its citizens to enjoy a country atmosphere. A 30-minute drive puts you in the center of everything that the Metroplex has to offer, including access to the world through DFW International Airport and Love Field Airport.
For decades, the cement industry has carried the burden of the local economy. In recent years, distribution and commercial businesses have arrived. Now, Midlothian’s economic base is quite diversified, thus allowing the community to successfully weather most economic storms.
As we look to the future, we are encouraged by the steps that city officials have taken with the creation of the City of Midlothian Comprehensive Plan: Envision 2025. This plan allows for controlled growth in the industrial, office, retail and residential sectors while maintaining a family-friendly setting.
Road expansions on U.S. 287, U.S. 67 and State Hwy 360 have improved transportation to and from Midlothian, allowing for increased industrial and commercial development. Manufacturing and distribution on the west side of the community continues to increase and prosper as commercial, medical and retail entities flourish on the east and south sides of the city.
Residential development has also significantly increased. Many new quality subdivisions are under construction on all sides of the community. The number of schools and churches are increasing as well to accommodate the increased population.
As the city grows, its officials are listening to the residents, old-timers and newcomers alike, as they voice their desire to maintain green space, create walking and biking trails, and beautify the city. All of these quality of life projects are a fundamental part of the new comprehensive plan which will create a prosperous and balanced community.
As we position ourselves for the future, we welcome and encourage others to join us in our journey. We at CEDM are very proud to be a part of Midlothian, Texas.
