TEXAS BUTTERFLY FESTIVAL in October celebrates the unique migratory path of over 300 species of butterflies making their way through the natural flora and fauna of the Rio Grande Valley. The festival is geared to all ages and experience levels. Butterfly novices are welcome to be a part of the festival and learn via hands-on programs and activities. A Butterfly Bonanza is held for children of all ages to play and to learn about these beautiful insects. Advance registration is recommended. ANZALDUAS COUNTY PARK, located on the Rio Grande River in Mission, is a beautiful spot for picnicking, boating and wildlife watching. (956) 585-4509

The MISSION HISTORICAL MUSEUM offers two buildings with exhibits that focus on the history of Mission, which include several rotating galleries that change seasonally. The newest edition at the Museum Annex (located 200 E. Tom Landry) is our Hands on History area for children of all ages and the Mission Memories gift store. Museum is open Tuesday through Friday 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. and Saturday 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Admission is free.
