Worship
Oak Cliff is a community of churches. At one time, Tenth Street in Oak Cliff was in the Guinness Book of Records as the street in the United States on which the most churches were located. That’s probably no longer true today, but anyone looking for a church home here will have no trouble finding one because there are churches of all sizes representing almost every religious denomination imaginable. Some of these churches have been here for years, and several have already celebrated their 100th anniversaries.
The Catholic Diocese of Dallas has five parishes in Oak Cliff, and Catholic Charities is a major presence in the community, operating in the downtown Oak Cliff area. The area is also home to several major churches that predominantly serve the African-American population. Several of these churches have either just completed or are in the process of expanding or building major new campuses in the area – including the Potter’s House Church, the Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship, Friendship West Baptist Church, and Full Gospel Holy Temple.
In addition, Oak Cliff is home to the International Linguistics Center, which trains missionaries for work around the world and helps indigenous people create the written word for their language.
Additionally, Christ for the Nations Institute, an interdenominational Bible School, has been training students from around the world in East Oak Cliff for more than 30 years.
