Community Profile — Marion
The City of Marion is a friendly, growing municipality with a country-style flair.
Located in Guadalupe County, it is geographically only 10 minutes from the IH 35 Corridor and 25 minutes northeast of San Antonio. FM 78 runs right though the city as it winds its way in the Metrocom from Kirby through Converse, Universal City, Schertz and Cibolo.
It is close to IH 10 and near Seguin and will be a major player economically when State Highway 130 is completed. Citizens enjoy country-style living, and children are able to enjoy a family oriented environment. City and school district governments provide excellent services for Marion citizens.
Local merchants provide various shopping opportunities.
These range from the local grocery/feed store to one of central Texas’ best nurseries to the oldest hardware store in the county and excellent home cooking at fine restaurants. Besides being a member of the Metrocom Chamber, it is also home to the Greater Marion Chamber, providing support for area merchants.
The Marion Economic Development District has an industrial park located at the intersection of East Schultz and South Live Oak Street. The Marion Youth Organization has two Little League fields and one girls’ softball field located at the city parks.
