
Garland Independent School District (ISD) stands as Dallas County’s second largest school district and one of the state’s largest, as it serves nearly 57,000 students in the communities of Garland, Rowlett and Sachse.

The district is composed of two early childhood facilities (pre-K), 45 elementary schools (K-5), 13 middle schools (6-8) and seven high schools (9-12). Garland ISD’s other facilities include the Cooperative Behavior Center, Evening High School and Alternative Education Center; plus the Agriculture Farm, two athletic stadiums and a special events center.
Sachse, along with the communities of Wylie, Murphy, Lucas, Lavon and St. Paul, is served by Wylie Independent School District (ISD) as well. Made up of more than 10,000 students, Wylie ISD operates nine elementary schools (prekindergarten-4), three intermediate schools (5-6), three junior high school (7-8) and two high schools (one housing grade nine, one housing grades 10-12), plus the Special Programs Center (K-12).
The area is also home to several private schools and day care centers, notably Bearfoot Lodge Private School, Stepping Stones Brookview Children’s Academy, Primrose School of Breckinridge Park in Richardson and Stepping Stones Learning Center.
For those looking to pursue education post high school graduation, Sachse is within 20 miles of a number of exceptional options for higher learning. Prominent undergraduate and graduate institutions nearby include the University of Dallas-Irving, University of Texas at Dallas and Southern Methodist University in Dallas. Additional options for two-year degrees and certificates include Richland College and Brookhaven College in Dallas, plus Eastfield College in Mesquite. Additionally, Collin County Community College District has six campuses conveniently located throughout Collin County including Plano and Allen.
