Angelo State University
San Angelo is home to Angelo State University (ASU), which was named by the prestigious Princeton Review as one of the "Best 371 Colleges" for the nation in 2010. ASU was one of only three public universities in Texas to receive thePrinceton Review seal of approval for 2010. A member of the Texas TechUniversity System, ASU provides a stimulating educational environment for students and serves as a catalyst for the community's cultural and economic enrichment.
As a state-supported institution, ASU emphasizes undergraduate and master's-level graduate education in the arts and sciences, in business and teacher education and in nursing and agriculture. The university's 6,387 students represent 39 states, 20 countries and 220 of the state's 254 counties.
The friendly and stimulating educational environment extends into the community with public offerings of dramatic and operatic theatrical performances, orchestral music, NCAA Division II athletic events and a variety of lectureships and symposia, featuring renowned scientists, acclaimed authors and Nobel laureates.

Angelo State University also provides San Angelo and the region with one of its most enduring resources, the Robert G. and Nona K. Carr Scholarship Foundation, which oversees a growing $81 million trust and annually provides almost $3.5 million in scholarships to ASU students.
