Tourism

Visitors come to our beautiful valley to enjoy the cool shaded quietness of our cypress-lined streams or the splendor of our Hill Country vistas or just the relaxed, laid-back atmosphere of our slower pace. After arriving, however, they find that there is so much more to Wimberley beyond the charming friendliness they encounter.

If you’re an art lover, you’ll want to be sure to take in the art galleries and demonstrations that have made Wimberley an artists’ haven and the best arts community in the Hill Country. Wimberley also has two outstanding venues for critically acclaimed live theater. EmilyAnn Theater each year hosts Shakespeare Under the Stars and is also the location for the annual Christmas Trail of Lights. The Wimberley Players perform dramas, musicals and comedies throughout the year at their new Wimberley Playhouse.

During summer months, visitors can enjoy first-run movies under the stars at the Corral Theater, or drop by the annual Wimberley VFW rodeo, held the weekend closest to July 4. Additionally, bingo is held every Friday night at the VFW.

If good live music is your thing, Wimberley has several live music venues.

Two local wineries offer tours of the vineyards and winemaking facilities and welcome visitors to sample some of the finest in Texas wines. Or cool off at Tropical Sno of Wimberley, serving 100s of flavors of their legendary shaved ice.

For those who like outdoor fun, the Blue Hole in Wimberley and Cypress Falls in Woodcreek welcome swimmers. There’s tubing and kayaking on the beautiful Blanco River. Creek Nature Trail offers shaded hiking along Cypress Creek, and a hike to the top of Old Baldy will provide a unique panorama of the area. Golf is popular at the 19-hole Quicksand Golf Course in Woodcreek, and for a high-flying adventure, check out Zip Line Adventures. Additionally, there are several local ranches that offer horseback riding.

The newest attraction in the area is the Veterans Memorial Plaza located on a scenic hilltop at EmilyAnn Theater.

The memorial consists of a United States flag, a Texas flag and the flags of each of the armed forces, as well as one representing prisoners of war and those missing in action.
