We provide opportunities such as Business After Hours and our Annual Meeting for local businesses to network with potential customers. Additionally, we have a leads group made up of Chamber members to help facilitate networking opportunities. We have several active advocacy groups. The Transportation Advocacy Group represents one such effort. This groups primary mission is to support the County and the City in their efforts to provide the best and safest transportation within our community. Another is the Education Committee, which is in the process of developing programs such as a mentoring program for students who do not learn by traditional methods and a Junior Scholars program to reward middle school students for achieving goals related to grades, attendance and citizenship. The Bedford Area Chamber of Commerce, through our Leadership Bedford curriculum, offers leadership training to the business community and is instrumental in developing the leaders of tomorrow. We have expanded our communication methods to include a monthly feature in the Bedford Bulletin and The Lynchburg News & Advance, a monthly fax update, weekly e-mail, a legislative update, and a "Bedford is your Business" flyer pack with advertising opportunities for members. Additionally, the Chamber of Commerce works closely with the City and County to support tourism and economic development in our region. As you can see, we are very active. We hope you will consider joining our effort to make the Bedford Community the best that it can be. Youll be glad you did. Sincerely, Stan Bennett,
President
