A reason to shop

There’s always a reason to shop in Franklin County. You’ll find stores ranging from fashion boutiques to fine arts and crafts galleries, curio shops to flea markets. And if antiquing is your passion, you’ll be able to indulge it here.

Shopping is concentrated in two areas: Rocky Mount and Smith Mountain Lake. Rocky Mount’s downtown commercial area has undergone a restoration. Facade renovations and new lighting and landscaping make it an attractive and convenient place to browse.

The communities and shopping plazas surrounding Smith Mountain Lake, especially Westlake and the Halesford Bridge areas, abound with locally owned stores that feature unique wares. Many of these plazas are located on the waterfront and offer dining, boat rentals and other amenities.

Franklin County’s festivals, such as the Lord’s Acre Sale in October, bring together area craftspeople. And the finest home-grown produce and other homemade products are always available at the daily Farmer’s Market in Rocky Mount’s Citizens’ Square.
