Entertainment & Nightlife Residents of Mount Vernon-Lee dont have to travel far to see their favorite professional sports teams play. Football fans can purchase tickets for the Washington Redskins preseason games. Home games for the Baltimore Orioles baseball team, Washington Wizards basketball team, Washington Capitals hockey team and the DC United soccer team all are within easy driving distance. For home entertainment, cable television service is provided by Cox Cable of Fairfax County. Fine Arts & Culture The fine arts have long been an integral part of Virginias culture, and that tradition remains strong in Mount Vernon-Lee. The orchestra performs several times throughout the year. During the summer months, it sponsors free chamber music concerts at The Lyceum in Old Town Alexandria. Concerts are held Sunday afternoons from June through September. A separate concert series is offered at Fort Hunt on Sunday evenings starting in June. The popular Mount Vernon Community Childrens Theatre is considered the finest provider of drama instruction for children in northern Virginia. In addition to delighting audiences of all ages, this organization provides valuable training for young thespians, and provides a positive outlet for their creativity. The acclaimed Fairfax County Public Library is the states largest library system, with 21 branches. Libraries in the Mount Vernon-Lee areas include John Marshall Community Library, Lorton Community Library, Martha Washington Library, and Sherwood Regional Library.
