Spend the day shopping at one of many retail destinations throughout the Virginia Peninsula. Extensive shopping malls and outlet centers are found here, as are convenient neighborhood strip malls and freestanding retailers—which all together offer an impressive selection of products and services.
Patrick Henry Mall—the only enclosed regional mall between Richmond and Norfolk—is a widely popular retail center on the Peninsula. Located in Newport News, along bustling Jefferson Avenue, the mall is lined with approximately 120 specialty stores, three department stores, Dick’s Sporting Goods and several sit-down restaurants. A food court, complete with 10 eateries and a fireplace, is centrally located in the mall as well.
Bargain hunters frequent the recently expanded Prime Outlet Mall at Williamsburg, situated off I-64. This boutique-style outdoor outlet mall offers shoppers the opportunity to save up to 65 percent at 120 designer and brand name shops. Further sales are waiting to be found at the Williamsburg Outlet Mall, an enclosed mall with more than 40 stores.
The newest shopping spot to hit the area is the modern Peninsula Town Center, a $270 million mixed-use development in Hampton. The site, located near I-64, opened on March 11, 2010 and features retail and office space, as well as a movie theater, upscale apartments and townhomes. Peninsula Town Center houses a mix of specialty shops and well-known department stores, which are complemented by beautiful landscaped parks and walkable streetscapes.
