Exceptional Education: K-12

Student

The Bellevue business community understands the connection between excellence in local education and our future workforce. A first-class education system plays a critical role in our increasingly global economy. The Bellevue School District, with its nationally recognized schools and innovative classroom technology, is preparing our students to compete in that environment.

Nationally Recognized Schools
Bellevue is nationally recognized for its award winning schools, innovative curriculum and exceptional teachers. In a May 2007 edition of Newsweek, all five Bellevue high schools appeared prominently in the top 200 in a list of over 1,200 of “America’s Best High Schools,” according to Jay Mathews’ Challenge Index. International School boasted an impressive rating of #11, followed by Bellevue High at #32, Newport High at #49, Interlake at #59 and Sammamish High at #104.

Bellevue’s innovative school curriculum is designed to give students a competitive advantage. Successful learning initiatives, such as full-day kindergarten, a full complement of Advanced Placement courses, an International Baccalaureate program, world language studies and extensive collaboration with partners in higher education and educational research give Bellevue students the tools they need to be successful in college and in the workforce.

Bellevue high schools

Bellevue high schools focus on college and career preparation. During 2006-2007, more than 2,500 Bellevue students were enrolled in over 5,600 Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate courses. Both of these programs allow students to earn college credit while still in high school. In 2006, 82% of Bellevue’s graduates took advantage of these advanced learning opportunities, and testing places Bellevue in the top one percent of all high schools nationwide.
