Faith in the Community

Catholics and Presbyterians were the first to send missionaries to the area joining the Indian religions already here. St. Paul's Mission still stands overlooking the site of Kettle Falls and Pia Mission still stands on Kelly Hill. Tshimakain Mission near Ford and the St. Frances Regis Mission near Kettle Falls are no longer standing. The Catholic Church near the site of the military fort was later moved to the town site. The Congregational Church, the oldest in the city, is still operating. Colville enjoys a strong and varied religious community with 22 denominations within its boundaries.
