Since the early 1900s, Beaver Dam has boasted the availability of high quality healthcare services for its citizens and individuals living in the greater Dodge County area. Beaver Dam Community Hospital (BDCH), an independent, non-profit healthcare organization serving people of all ages, is committed to the health and wellness of the community. This commitment is evidenced by the new replacement hospital completed in February of 2006 on the BDCH campus located at 707 S. University Avenue.

The new state-of-the-art hospital is the most significant improvement in Dodge County healthcare in over 30 years. The 200,000- square-foot, 60-bed, acute care hospital combines advanced technology with a design that promotes accessibility and comfort for an environment of healing. Investments made in state-of-the-art information systems and diagnostic, treatment and surgical services provide area residents with advanced health care that has attracted top-notch health care professionals to practice in the community.

A health care team of over 1,000 employees and physicians provide patient-centered care at BDCH. With more than 100 physicians on staff, area residents can easily access board- certified providers, close to home. Individuals and families new to the area have an outstanding group of family practitioners and internists to choose from for primary care services. physicians specializing in such services as pediatrics, cardiology, orthopaedics, OB/GYN, oncology, general surgery, urology and many more also provide services in Beaver Dam.

Most physician offices are located in the new medical office building attached to the hospital. Other practitioners, such as the only pediatrician in the city, are located a block from the hospital in the professional offices along Warren Street. Area physicians provide medical specialties including family practice, pediatrics, anesthesia, internal medicine, obstetrics/gynecology, oncology, ophthalmology, ear, nose & throat, radiology, pathology, neurology, general, vascular and orthopedic surgery, urology, podiatry, oral surgery, dermatology, psychiatry and gastroenterology. Dr. Rolf Hansen, of the Beaver Dam Foot and Ankle Clinic, provides podiatric care in the community. The Beaver Dam Women’s Health clinic, headed up by Dr. Ken Ostermann, MD, specializes in serving the unique medical needs of women of all ages in the Beaver Dam area.

Community Pediatrics, home to Dr. Betsy Peterson, MD, is the area’s first pediatric clinic. These professionals are joined by a host of dental, optometric and psychiatric practices/offices, as well as treatment services for substance abuse and addiction, which are found throughout the city. All are staffed by caring professionals trained by experts in their fields.

BDCH is unique in the fact that, in addition to comprehensive hospital services and programs, the organization offers a continuum of care that includes a nursing home, alternative living facilities, home care and hospice services, a child care center, and a fitness facility. Area residents also have access to health and wellness information via the BDCH Community Resource Library and through a wide variety of classes and support services offered throughout the year.
