Introduction
Situated
in the ruggedly beautiful lower Wisconsin River Valley, Boscobel is one
of the few areas in the Midwest untouched by glaciers. The
name Boscobel dates back to the mid-1850s when the Milwaukee &
Mississippi Railroad established a station at the site. An official of
the railroad, impressed by the panoramic beauty of the area dubbed the
new depot "Boscque Belle" French for beautiful woods.
Although Boscobel is proud of its ethnic and cultural heritage, it continues
to progress with a fully developed 75-acre industrial park, convenient
business districts, three new subdivisions, a strong faith base including
one catholic and nine protestant churches. The Chamber of Commerce and
other service organizations continually develop exciting community events
and activities for the enjoyment of residents and visitors.
