The
community is home of the Boscobel Hotel, birthplace of the Gideon Bible
(the site where two Christian traveling salesmen conceived the idea of
the Gideon Society) and the Rock School, both listed on the National Register
of Historic Places. Visitors are encouraged to experience Boscobels
rich heritage with a tour through the GAR Hall Civil War Museum located
in one of the few Grand Army of the Republic Halls in the Midwest and
the Depot Heritage "Turn of the Century" Museum located in the
restored 18th century railroad depot. The communitys rich heritage
is on display throughout the historic downtown business district. For
the busy traveler, food, lodging and shopping is also readily available
along state highways 61 & 133. Boscobel invites visitors to come,
enjoy, relax and stay a little longer while enjoying one of the numerous
avenues for recreation and shopping. Lodging is available at the Hubls
Motel, The River Inn & Banquet Facility, Sands Motel, Llaughing Llamas
Country Cabins, Life ORiley Farm & Guesthouse, or camping at
Riverfront Camping or Ks RV Park. Area attractions include Kickapoo
Indian Caverns & Native American Museum, the Gays Mills Apple Orchards,
Fennimore Doll & Railroad Museums, Wyalusing and Nelson Dewey State
Parks, American Players Theater, House on the Rock and other area mining
museums and state historic sites.
