A Civic-Minded Community

Corresponding with its endeavors to encourage a thriving business and residential ambiance, Cedarburg is also a community that takes care of its own. In spite of the fact that Cedarburg is a relatively small community, the area is teeming with a variety of nonprofit organizations that contribute greatly toward the overall well-being of Cedarburg residents. Significant entities such as Big Brothers Big Sisters (offers ongoing guidance to needy youths), COPE Services (maintains a 24-hour telephone hotline serving those in need of emotional support) and Family Sharing (operates a community food pantry) are just a few of the many groups that afford unwavering assistance to those in need. On top of this, the Cedarburg Community Scholarship Fund was designed to promote continuing educational support, while other groups, such as the Cedarburg Lions, the Cedarburg Junior Woman’s, Cedarburg Woman’s and Cedarburg-Grafton Rotary Clubs, contribute charitable support to a legion of worthy causes.

A further prominent organization that merits mention is the Greater Cedarburg Community Foundation. The foundation was created with a purpose to stimulate and advance private funding in support of artistic, cultural and community service initiatives and programs that are conducive to enhancing the vitality of the greater Cedarburg community.

Festivals of Cedarburg

Festivals of Cedarburg Inc., also a nonprofit organization, has brought the city national and regional recognition for its three popular annual festivals. Festivals of Cedarburg Inc. provides a steady source of income for other area nonprofit groups, while serving to ensure the economic health and vitality of Cedarburg’s downtown historic district.

The animal population that calls Cedarburg home is well cared for, thanks to the resolute dedication of the Ozaukee County Humane Society, a not-for-profit organization that has been a part of the community for more than 30 years. OCHS provides an assortment of animal- related services in an area considered to be an important part of life in the Cedarburg area. Among its services are a comprehensive adoption program, lifesaving medical care, community education programs and obedience classes for dogs and puppies. All together, the OCHS provides compassionate care to nearly 2,000 animals every year.
