The fast-growing and
progressive District plans and implements curriculum that ensures both
academic and personal achievement for its students. A community of active
parent groups, highly educated and competent teachers and administrators,
and enthusiastic students make a powerful combination, which results in
an exceptional educational experience for all. The School District
covers a 100-square-mile area serving the communities of DeForest, Hampton,
Leeds, Bristol, Burke, Vienna, Windsor, and portions of Sun Prairie and
Madison. Approximately 3,100 students are served by over 450 professional
and support staff in six elementary schools, one intermediate school,
one middle school and one high school. The Holum Education Center provides kindergarten and early childhood programs for the entire District. Five neighborhood elementary schools serve grades one through four. A new intermediate facility provides instruction for students in grades seven and eight. The recently remodeled and expanded DeForest Area High School offers a comprehensive curriculum and a broad variety of co-curricular activities for students in grades nine though twelve. The School District works very closely with officials in the key municipalities it serves in order to ensure balanced, cooperative, and complimentary planning through the area. The Board of Education is committed to creative partnerships in the community that will promote the overall quality of life for its citizens. These partnerships include participation on the DeForest-Vienna-Windsor Growth Corporation, the DeForest Area Foundation, the DeForest Area Chamber of Commerce, and a wide variety of civic organizations. Unique partnerships, such as the DeForest Area Business & Education Partnership and LINK-ages, support many meaningful student activities. The DeForest Area Schools are viewed as an integral part of the community, keeping the "public" in public education.
