Due to a highly skilled and well-educated workforce, numerous business and economic incentives, and easy access to highways, freight carriers, and one of Wisconsin’s largest airports, business is booming in the DeForest/Windsor area. More than 250 businesses, including agricultural technical firms like ABS Global, Infigen and ICATT, manufacturers such as Demco, Evco Plastics, and Clack Corporation, and large scale warehouses, provide almost unlimited employment opportunities for area residents.

Under continuing development and with easy access to Interstate 90-94/39 and State Highway 51, the DeForest Business Park and North Towne Commercial Park in Windsor are expected to draw a number of additional business and industrial concerns within the next few years.

Civic and business leaders have orchestrated continuous growth by developing a Tax Increment Finance District to encourage business and industry to locate in DeForest. The highly successful DeForest Business Park is home to national firms such as Firestone Building Products, Mattel-Pleasant Company, AGLI, PolyOne, Chiquita, as well as several regional and local companies. The North Towne Commercial Park in Windsor is home to national firms such as Walgreens, Pepsi-Co and Coca-Cola.

Farming is one of the area’s largest industries, with farmers cultivating some of the richest farmland in the country and using the latest technology toincrease production and yield.

Service businesses abound from printers and insurance companies, to builders, banks and automotive repair shops - a wide range of experienced professionals care for the everyday needs of residents and businesses.

Leaders in the DeForest community are also redeveloping the DeForest downtown into a picturesquemixed-use district for business, residential, and public use. The award winning DeForest Area Library will anchor the new DeForest Downtown. A Municipal campus is also housed in the Downtown area.
