Each year locals and visitors enjoy the great tradition of the Green Lake County Junior Free Fair. That’s right – it’s free. No admission charge or parking fees.

During the first weekend of August, local 4-H youth gather at the Green Lake County Fairgrounds in Green Lake to compete for blue ribbons, trophies and bragging rights in various categories including pie baking, photography, woodworking and animal showing. There are open categories for those not in 4-H who wish to compete.
Four days of fun, family entertainment appeal to all. Check out the animals– rabbits, chickens, ducks, pigs, sheep, goats, horses, cows, cats and dogs. Watch as young people show the animals they have raised and judges determine who will go on to the State Fair in Milwaukee, then watch the livestock auction that follows. The exhibition building displays projects demonstrating creativity and talent.
Listen to live entertainment, enjoy a carnival ride or play a game as you walk the midway, or sit down and take in some educational programs. Experience a track event such as a truck and tractor pull, an ATV race or a demolition derby – for a small admission charge. And don’t forget to indulge your taste buds with mouthwatering cotton candy, crunchy caramel apples, creamy Wisconsin ice cream, tangy BBQ and so much more. Stop by and you’ll agree that the Green Lake County Junior Free Fair is “the best little fair around”.
