With a goal of focusing on community issues that affect the city as a whole, such as downtown preservation and beautification, the City of Jefferson, the Jefferson Chamber of Commerce and the Jefferson Development Commission work closely for continued economic development and business success.
The Jefferson County Economic Development Consortium also plays a pivotal role in the city of Jefferson’s economic vitality and progress.
A dedicated workforce, a strategic location near major arterial highways and access to the railroad, plus a strong, diverse economic foundation characterized by commercial, industrial and agricultural businesses have all made Jefferson a distinct site for business relocation and expansion.
The city is home to everything from family owned and operated businesses to large international companies, providing an ideal variety that adds depth to its robust industrial base.

Additionally, new and old are fused together here, as some of Jefferson’s earliest industrial and manufacturing companies are still in operation today. Tyson (est. 1879) and Nestlé Purina PetCare (est. 1910) are among the city’s longest standing businesses.
The area is also home to Arrow Inc., Foremost Buildings, Inc., Renew Energies and Wisconsin Plastic Drain Tile Corp., as well as several financial institutions (with assets exceeding $150 million).
The presence of the North and South Industrial Parks provide ample opportunities for area businesses, and ultimately opens the doors to further economic development in Jefferson. North Industrial Park houses Briggs and Stratton Portable Power Product, which employs around 700 people, along with Milwaukee Delivery, Kendall Packaging, Toucan Embroidery and Screen Printing, Slewfoot Signs and Parkway Center. On the other end, South Industrial Park’s tenants include Atlas Cold Storage, LD Foods, Current Electric, Jefferson Transport Service, Jefferson Bus Co., Koenig Concrete and United Drilling Co.
The manufacturer of Harley Davidson parts, Anderson Machining Service, can be found just outside of South Industrial Park.

Adding to this is the establishment of the Jefferson Area Business Center. This facility is home to more than 20 different businesses and offers its occupants a number of advantageous options for relocation and expansion. Administrative support, marketing services, around 120,000 square feet of flexible manufacturing space, on-site shipping and printing services, warehouse services and subcontract services round out the list of benefits available at the Jefferson Area Business Center.
