Arts & Entertainment

Living in The Falls is a blend of cultural pleasures. From performances by high school bands and local theatrical performances by the Falls Patio Players, from the local symphony to nearby nightlife in Milwaukee, Menomonee Falls has something for everyone.

The Falls Patio Players, affiliated with the Menomonee Falls Recreation Department, is a quality community theater group that performs several comedies, dramas and musicals each year. The Menomonee Falls Symphony also presents several concerts throughout the year and highlights the talents of local musicians.

Accompany of Kids was established in 1989 to provide an opportunity for young people to strengthen their leadership, mentoring and self-confidence through their performance abilities. During its 20 successful seasons, “AOK” has had the opportunity to perform at some of Milwaukee’s premiere events, as well as local community charitable events.

The Hamilton Fine Arts Center, located adjacent to Hamilton High School and only a few minutes from Menomonee Falls, opened its doors in 2004. The focus of the Hamilton Fine Arts Center is to provide quality entertainment, cultural awareness and educational programs. It is the intention of this state-of-the-art facility to share the stage with worldwide talent embracing drama, musicals, classics, contemporary works, symphonies, dance, cultural presentations and travelogues.

Fairs and festivals enliven the calendar for residents of The Falls. Calendar highlights include: Cheery Cherry Fall Fair, an arts and crafts festival held in Village Park; the Falls Harvest Fair, crafter’s displays; Falls Fest, a four-day celebration filled with family activities, music, games and food; and the big Fourth of July celebration, which features a colorful parade and fireworks. Local veterans are honored each year with a Memorial Day Parade and social gathering at the Knights of Columbus Hall. A lighted twilight Christmas Parade features Santa Claus as the grand finale and creates a holiday spirit to kick-off the Christmas season. Each summer, an old-fashioned ice cream social, as well as a Civil War Enactment are sponsored by the Historical Society and are held on the grounds of Old Falls Village. Other events hosted by the Historical Society are Haunted Halloween and Silver Tea. A “Living History Day” is offered to the 4th grade students of all public and private schools in Menomonee Falls. This day gives the students a glimpse into the lives of the residents of The Falls in the 19th century.

The Menomonee Falls Public Library is a cultural focal point in the community. It holds more than 120,000 books and periodicals, 3,000 audiocassettes, 4,600 videos, 2,700 compact discs, 1,135 DVDs and has 20 Internet and seven word processing stations. The new facility has both small and large group study rooms, a drive-up book drop and public meeting rooms for use by community groups. In addition, the library’s Outreach Services include free delivery of books and other materials to the home-bound in The Falls.

Proximity to Milwaukee gives residents easy access to the city’s array of cultural and artistic resources. The Performing Arts Center offers concerts by the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, the Florentine Opera Company, the Milwaukee Repertory Theatre and the Milwaukee Ballet Company.

The Milwaukee Public Museum awes visitors with its displays and exhibits. The Milwaukee Art Museum, with its new addition by renowned architect Calatrava, houses an appealing collection of contemporary and primitive art. The Mitchell Park Conservatory’s three identical glass domes feature colorful floral gardens and displays that are continually changed.

The Milwaukee County Zoo, with its natural habitats, is ranked among the world’s finest zoological parks. The 184-acre zoo has more than 6,000 animals, many on the endangered species list.
