Menomonee Falls residents have all of nature’s wonderous glories at their doorsteps in the country-like atmosphere that dominates its neighborhoods and the 2,500 acres of Village and county parks and recreation spots that lie within village's boundaries.

People here enjoy life to the fullest with backyard barbecues, picnics in the park and a full variety of sports in the winter and the summer.

The Village’s Recreation and Community Services Department is dedicated to the well-being of the community, and schedules a wide-ranging roster of recreation programs, sports and activities for residents of all ages. It also cooperates with various organized recreational groups in the community that oversee youth and adult sports. The department’s schedule of activities is published three times a year. In addition, the department conducts special recreational programs for the community’s special needs population.

Fourteen developed Village parks encompass more than 250 acres, and are equipped with play areas, walking paths and trails, baseball and softball diamonds, soccer and football fields, picnic areas, volleyball and tennis courts, horseshoe pits, a bandshell and winter ice skating rinks.

The Village owns 141 acres in the Willowood Community Forest and 764 acres in the Tamarack Preserve. These lands serve as wildlife corridors and educational areas that greatly enhance the quality of life for all residents. The Village also owns more than 44 acres of land in undeveloped areas that have been set aside as parks for when the surrounding land develops.

In addition to utilizing the Village’s many parks, recreational programming also uses Village school facilities and the Community Center. Activities include video production, rifle clubs, fitness, a ski club, social dancing and archery. The department offers swimming lessons for youngsters, infants and preschoolers, as well as scuba diving, water fitness and synchronized swim classes.

Menomonee Falls is the starting point for the Waukesha County Bugline Recreation Trail. Joggers, hikers and bikers enjoy a marked path that winds through the community and links with other trails.

Opportunities abound at the several health and fitness facilities in the community. The state-of-the-art Tri-County YMCA, housed in a modern $4 million building, offers a variety of sports, aquatics and wellness programs, senior programs, and preschool and child care services.

Vast areas of Waukesha County are devoted to wildlife preserves and recreation. The county owns a total of 16,155 acres of parks and protected areas, enhanced in their beauty by 116 lakes and ponds and eight rivers.

Nearby Kettle Moraine State Forest contains some 17,000 acres carved into natural wonders by retreating glaciers. At Kettle Moraine, visitors can enjoy boating, fishing, camping, picnicking, swimming and hiking along marked nature trails. Lake Michigan, a 30-minute drive from Menomonee Falls, is also a source of pleasure for boating, sailing, swimming and fishing for large game fish.

For folks who enjoy professional sports, The Falls is close to Milwaukee. The Brewers baseball team draws fans to the new Miller Park. The Milwaukee Bucks, an NBA basketball team, plays at the city’s Bradley Center, which is also the site for games of the Milwaukee Admirals (an American Hockey League team) and the Milwaukee Wave (an indoor soccer team). In addition, the Bradley Center offers a wide-ranging series of entertainment and sports events. The Pettit Ice Center, one of the few indoor Olympic training facilities in the world, is available for ice skating buffs.
