Fairs and festivals enliven the calendar for residents of The Falls. Calendar highlights include: Cheery Cherry Fall Fair, an arts and crafts festival held in Village Park; The Falls Harvest Fair, crafter’s displays; Falls Fest, a four-day celebration filled with family activities, music, games and food; and the big Fourth of July celebration, which features a colorful parade and fireworks. Each summer, an old-fashioned ice cream social, sponsored by the Historical Society, is held on the grounds of Old Falls Village. An outdoor museum of historic buildings, as well as a Civil War Enactment, Haunted Halloween and Silver Tea are also top events in the community.

The newest family oriented event is The Big Pig Gig, a Kansas City BBQ Competition hosted by the Menomonee Falls Community Chamber held annually in the fall. This competition is a national event and Menomonee Falls is one of 200 locations across the United States participating. The event theme is BBQ and residents and tourists can sample some outstanding food while listening to national and local musical talent, or just unwind listening to some jazz in the park at the gazebo.

The new Menomonee Falls Public Library, opened in 2003, is a cultural focal point in the community. It holds more than 120,000 books and periodicals, 3,000 audiocassettes, 4,600 videos, 2,700 compact discs, 1,135 DVDs and has 20 Internet and seven word processing stations. The new facility has both small and large group study rooms, a drive-up book drop and public meeting rooms for use by community groups. In addition, the library’s Outreach Services include free delivery of books and other materials to the home-bound in The Falls.
