Menomonee Falls Government

Menomonee Falls is governed by a Village Board of six trustees and a village president elected at-large. The board employs a professional village manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of village government. In keeping with the spirit of the community, dozens of citizens serve on commissions, advisory boards and committees, lending their expertise and insight to the affairs of government.

Village government is housed in a contemporary-styled Municipal Building, originally constructed in 1969, and extensively renovated in 2003, close to the heart of the community. The Menomonee Falls Public Library stands adjacent to the Municipal Building.

The Village Police Department has gained national accreditation and maintains an aggressive crime prevention effort, along with a comprehensive community relations program. Its community services include educational programs designed to limit business thefts and fraud, traffic safety programs and home security surveys.

The Menomonee Falls Fire Department operates out of four strategically located fire stations. A fully equipped Hazardous Materials Response Team functions within the department. Two-thirds of all firefighters are trained Emergency Medical Technicians, and each fire station has an ambulance with life-support equipment aboard.

The Department of Public Works and Engineering Services provides service to Menomonee Falls residents and property owners by maintaining and repairing all Village property, infrastructure and vehicles, including almost 1,000 acres of parks and over 200 miles of roads, from several strategically located facilities. Engineering Services provides professional engineering support to all other village departments and functions, including the Water Utility, Sanitary Sewer Utility and Stormwater Utility.

The Department of Community Development uses its professional staff to administer the development regulations in the Village municipal code in a manner that encourages development, while protecting the interests of the public. The Department also issues building permits and other construction-related permits, inspects the work done under those permits and does liaison work with contractors and citizens. Professional planning staff prepare various redevelopment and long-range plans and reports to maintain a well planned, steadily growing community.
