Parks and Recreation

When it’s time to get out and play, there’s no better place than the Mosinee area to enjoy the fruits of a good life. Come explore the majestic Wisconsin River as it meanders through serene woodlands and gently rolling farmland. Popular for fishing and boating, the river is an exquisite setting where white-tailed deer, mallard ducks, great blue herons, Canadian geese and other wildlife thrive. Or you can discover the great outdoors right here in town at one of Mosinee’s 13 resplendent parks. The parks are maintained through an innovative “Adopt A Park Program,” in which residents and organizations adopt and provide routine maintenance for their local park. Neighborhood parks offer playground equipment, picnic facilities, nature walks, boat landings and host various sporting events. The Village of Kronenwetter has seven village parks that provide recreation, relaxation and plenty of family activities.

Winter fun is shared by everyone in the Mosinee area. Marathon County is crisscrossed by miles of snowmobile trails, and the Mosinee Recreation Center Indoor Ice Arena is available for skaters and hockey players. Don’t forget that Wisconsin is famous for great skiing. Endless miles of pristine cross-country trails are available, and challenging downhill slopes are found just 15 minutes north of town at Granite Peak in Rib Mountain.

Residents can also take advantage of the nine-acre Mosinee Recreation Center and Park, located between Fremont and High Streets. It provides unsurpassed facilities, athletic sites and play areas. Its large enclosed arena is used for skating and Mosinee Hockey Association hockey games. The Badger State Games take advantage of the Mosinee Recreation Center’s ice rink facilities for hockey and figure skating competitions as well. The park also hosts the Mosinee Softball Field, jungle gym, merry-go-round, horseshoe pits, concession area and more.

Once the golf bug bites and it’s time for you to get back into the swing of things, Mosinee and the surrounding area have just the thing for you. Duffers of all skill levels delight in the courses right here in town. Adjacent to the Central Wisconsin Business Park, the 18-hole championship Indianhead Golf Course will challenge your fortitude and test your mettle as it gently bends and breaks amidst quiet woods and lazy streams.

Whether out for weekend fun or year-round recreation, there’s an endless variety of exciting activities for you and your family throughout Mosinee.
