Mosinee School District

The Mosinee School District includes nearly 250 square miles in the City of Mosinee and all or parts of the towns of Bergen, Emmet, Green Valley, Guenther, Knowlton, Kronenwetter and Reid. It enrolls more than 2,000 students from pre-kindergarten, 4K through 12th grade.

The E.J. Creske Center connects the high school and middle school, and contains a modern auditorium, swimming pool, gymnasium, technology labs and more. The District also offers innovative programs such as the Outdoor Education program at the middle school, the multi-age programs in grades 1-5 and its two-way video distance education programs. It also supports a building construction program in conjunction with Wausau Homes that gives students a hands-on look at career options in the area.

The District’s ratio of students to computer is extremely low, and its Wide Area Network provides Internet access to classrooms everywhere. Additional information pertaining to the Mosinee School District is available at www.mosineeschools.org.

School

Northland Lutheran High School has a low student-to-teacher ratio and low student-to-computer ratio, and has received numerous awards for its programs. Opened in 2004, the nationally accredited Wisconsin Valley Lutheran High School currently enrolls approximately 40 students in grades 9-12. St. Paul’s School teaches children in kindergarten through 8th grade. The Mosinee Preschool, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization operated by the association of parents whose children are enrolled. The state-licensed facility has an excellent reputation for quality programs for three-to-five year olds. KIDStown USA is a state-licensed childcare center, serving area families with children ages six weeks through 12 years of age. Story Book Kids on Maple Ridge is the community’s newest state-licensed childcare facility. St. Paul’s School, Mosinee Preschool, KIDStown USA and Story Book Kids all offer 4K programs.

Mosinee Community Education (MCE) provides enrichment classes throughout the school year. The majority of classes are geared towards adults, but students from age 12 and up also participate. Summer camps have been offered for school age students as well. Classes offered include computer applications, foreign language, writing, fitness and arts.

Education

The Mosinee School District is MCE’s fiscal agent and most classes are held at the Mosinee public schools. Besides the Mosinee School District, several Mosinee area businesses and Northcentral Technical College help sponsor Mosinee Community Education.

Northcentral Technical College in Wausau helps career-minded students to focus on reaching their professional goals, while the University of Wisconsin-Marathon County (also located in Wausau) offers degree programs in a variety of fields. The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point also offers a broad-based curriculum popular with Mosinee students.
