If it is visual or performing arts you crave, the quality of Onalaska's programs and range of local and invited talent are on a par with major cities. Several local theaters, from community theaters to university fine arts theaters, bring live musical and theatrical productions to eager audiences. The local school system generates nationally recognized show choirs.

The La Crosse Symphony enthralls audiences at Viterbo University Fine Arts Center and with a summer concert at Onalaska's Omni Center. Musical acts are brought to area stages at the universities, the Omni Center and the La Crosse Center. Local artists are promoted through numerous galleries, retail outlets that display works and bookstores that host book clubs and writer's clubs.

The annual "Art Fair on the Green" festival at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse campus attracts world renowned artists and international visitors, as do the annual area folk, blues and jazz festivals held in the area.
