Prairie du Chien Chamber of Commerce

Events Calendar

The Prairie du Chien area offers countless opportunities for recreation, relaxation, entertainment, competitive events and links to the past. Many events are scheduled annually, like the historic Prairie Villa Rendezvous, where buckskinners and fur traders re-enact the 1840s fur-trade era. This popular event is the largest such re-enactment in the Midwest.

In summer, people look forward to the Chamber of Commerce fireworks display, Town & Country Music Jamboree, PRCA Rodeo and Prairie Dog Blues Festival.

The Villa Louis Carriage Classic, held in September, is one of the most elegant equine sport-driving events in the Midwest. The event features more than 100 new and restored carriages and buggies pulled by fine horses of various breeds. A popular September event held at Fort Crawford Museum is Cannons and Redcoats, which depicts life in 1814 Prairie du Chien.

Cold weather highlights include our New Year’s Eve Droppin’ of the Carp, Taste of Prairie du Chien, Bald Eagle Appreciation Day and Ice Fisheree. The Chamber of Commerce website (www.prairieduchien.org) features an up-to-date list of area events that includes flea markets, craft shows, re-enactment of the Battle of Prairie du Chien and much more. No matter what time of year you visit Prairie du Chien, you will discover people, places and things that make you want to return time and time again.
