Prairie du Chien offers a variety of recreation options. The Wacouta Aquatic Park, managed by the city’s Parks Department, features an outdoor swimming pool with a water slide. It is open from May through Labor Day. The park includes picnic facilities and Fort Fun, a play area for children.

Residents can stay in shape year-round at the Hoffman Hall Sports Complex, a city-owned recreation facility that boasts an indoor, heated, Olympic-sized swimming pool; full-sized basketball court; and other opportunities for physical exercise. Privately owned workout centers provide Nautilus and other exercise equipment, free weights, aerobic and martial arts sessions for cardio workouts and muscle toning/building options.

Duffers can choose from two beautiful golf courses – Prairie du Chien Country Club (18-holes) and Barnyard 9 (9-holes). In addition, the community has a number of miniature golf opportunities.

A number of ball diamonds may be found within the city. Baseball and softball enthusiasts find many opportunities to play or watch one of America’s favorite sports. Also, experience activities such as paddle boating, canoeing, archery, bowling, boating, water skiing, horseback riding, walking, hiking, biking, hunting, fishing and more. Go carts and river boat cruises are available.
