Education

The Prairie du Chien School District maintains the community’s commitment to learning by providing outstanding educational opportunities for students enrolled in pre-K through 12th grade. Families located in the communities of Prairie du Chien and Eastman attend one of three schools in the district: B.A. Kennedy Elementary School (pre-K-2), Bluff View Intermediate School (3-8) and Prairie du Chien High School (9-12).

The early childhood education program for pre-K through second grade students emphasizes a solid foundation in reading and mathematics, while grades three through five build upon that groundwork. The middle school curriculum (sixth through eighth) meets the evolving needs of the early adolescent, and by high school students are being prepared for college, technical school and employment post graduation. The district also provides special education programs, as well as plenty of opportunities to take advantage of various extracurricular activities.

The public school district works closely with local private and parochial institutions, too. St. John’s School, St. Gabriel’s School, Prairie Christian Academy and Wyalusing Academy each provide an excellent alternative to public schooling.

Families wishing to pursue home schooling will find an active and supportive community, well-versed in utilizing non-traditional educational resources.
