Worship opportunities in Prairie du Chien are varied. Individuals and families may choose to attend traditional services in one of the many historic buildings, or in a modern atmosphere where the experience is enhanced by contemporary music. Weekly prayer and study groups are offered throughout the community in churches and residents’ homes.

Several major denominations and other faith communities are represented in the Prairie du Chien area. The city’s active Ministerial Association, committed to promote spiritual growth and education, conducts ecumenical services and other events throughout the year.

Couleecap, Inc. works collaboratively with the Salvation Army and other agencies to operate a community food pantry in conjunction with the Bargain Boutique at 200 East Blackhawk Avenue.

Faith in Action—Crawford County in an interfaith volunteer care giving initiative of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Volunteers work together to care for their neighbors by providing non-medical assistance with tasks such as picking up groceries or providing a ride.

Catholic Charities, at 105 North Wacouta Street, offers financial guidance, money management techniques and consumer credit education.

Prairie du Chien’s many social and charitable organizations participate in the community’s growth, development and preservation.

The contributions of these organizations enhance the quality of life for all Prairie du Chien residents.

The busy family of clubs and organizations includes: AARP, American Legion and Auxiliary, Athletic Booster Club, Band Boosters, Eagles Club and Auxiliary, Friends of the Villa Louis, Jaycees, Kiwanis, Knights of Columbus, Lions Club, Masonic Lodge, Rotary Club, VFW and Women’s Civic Club.
