Reedsburg
Wisconsin is a community on the move! Strategically located minutes
from I90/94 and serviced by 2 state highways -23 and 33, Reedsburg is
the ideal location to live, work or play. The Reedsburg Municipal
Airport provides additional business, as well as private transportation
options. Reedsburg is home to over 30 industrial firms and takes great
pride in a vibrant retail and service base. Pride is evident throughout
the community through restoration of many of our historic homes and
buildings, including the restored downtown and historic railroad depot
that now houses the Reedsburg Area Chamber of Commerce and serves as
the southern trailhead for the 400 State Bike Trail. Reedsburg is a
year 'round tourist areas boasting hiking and biking as well as cross
country skiing and nearby downhill skiing. The historic Pioneer Village
and Historical Society takes you back to a simpler life. Shopping
ranges from antiquing to quilting and everything in between. Home to
the Museum of Norman Rockwell Art, Reedsburg epitomizes Rockwell's
works - small town America and its values.
The
School District of Reedsburg includes seven schools - five elementary,
one middle school and one high school. Student enrollment in 1996 was
2452 in Early Childhood through Grade 12. The district employs 195
teachers and administrators and approximately 155 support staff.
Currently, the district is constructing a $14.5 million high school scheduled to open in the fall of 1998. At that time, the present high school will be converted to a middle school and the middle school will be converted to an elementary school.
Special programs include Education for Employment, including and active Partnership in Education, extensive exceptional educational needs and related services program, growing Gifted and Talented program, all areas of computer education, advanced placement coursework, and nationally recognized YSL and POPS programs.
MATC Reedsburg Madison Area Technical College (MATC) provides continuing education in Reedsburg. Courses are offered in adult continuing education as well as degree programs including accounting, farm business, nursing, office technology, supervisory management, and supervisory training program. Understanding the needs of business for the 21st Century, MATC has developed partnerships within the community to address those needs. Providing business and industry training and programs with the local school districts, MATC assists in establishing future leaders in business and creating a "work smart" business environment. MATC is also an active partner in the new library currently being constructed providing much needed computer equipment for public use. Partnering with the Sauk County JOB Center, MATC representatives are available to assist with career counseling. Reedsburg Area Medical Center
Built in 1976, the Reedsburg Area Medical Center (RAMC) consists of 53 acute care beds and 50 long term care beds and serves 200 patients a day, seven days a week. General services provided include Obstetrics, Intensive Care, Orthopedics, Pediatrics, Medical/Surgical, Emergency Services and Long Term Care. Specialty consultation and support services are provided from major midwest clinics. The Reedsburg hospital has been a source of medical care since 1902 and continues to have the support and respect of the community. Today, Reedsburg's healthcare provider is conveniently located within the same, interconnecting campus, including the hospital, nursing home and clinic.
