The Richland area is served well by a number of churches, each of which has adopted their own unique method of ministering to the community beyond normal expectations.

Rural churches tend to adopt the character of the community and the congregation. They become the “home” church of family members no matter where life takes them because this is their belief, their history, and their identity. This is where they come home to.

One example of unique ministering is the Labyrinth ministry at Town and Country Presbyterian Church. A labyrinth is a walking meditation device with a single winding path from the edge to the center, and back to the outside. People who walk the Labyrinth find that focused walking meditation is highly efficient at reducing anxiety.

church

It is a tool that can clear the mind, guide healing, deepen self-knowledge, enhance creativity, allow for reconciliation, restore feelings of belonging to a community, and lead to personal and spiritual growth. You can walk the labyrinth most Saturdays from 1 to 4 p.m.

Town and Country Presbyterian Church is also unique in that, over 50 years ago, when the building was constructed, it was made handicap accessible. This fact enables the church to house the county’s food pantry, the Senior Meal Program for Richland Center, the Friendship Quilters Guild and Boy Scout Troop #81.

Town and Country and other area churches host concerts, festivals, major productions such as “The Keys” (an Easter drama), and Lutefisk dinners, as well as many potlucks and soup suppers.
