The Fire Department provides round-the-clock fire suppression and emergency medical services with 13 full-time personnel and 25 part-time, paid-on-call members. Strong community relations and special educational programs such as the Survive Alive House, Juvenile Fire Safety and traditional programs relating to fire prevention and general public education carry a strong priority. The department currently carries a ISO Class 4 insurance rating.

The Police Department is structured by 20 full-time personnel and is augmented by auxiliary police personnel, providing 24-hour patrol.

graphicWithin its jurisdiction St. Francis has two county and two municipal parks encompassing 63 acres, 23 of which are situated along our beautiful Lake Michigan shoreline. Outdoor activities include softball, baseball, tennis and soccer available throughout the city. Other activities include direct access to a 99.1 mile county bicycle and walking trail and an abundance of Lake Michigan fishing locations.

St. Francis is also home to South Shore Manor Nursing Home for seniors, Lake Shore Medical Clinic and St. Ann’s Center for Intergenerational Care. St. Ann’s is a unique day facility serving Alzheimer patients and disabled children.
