Sussex Parks and Recreation
The Village of Sussex has 10 existing parks, with three more under development. The Village of Lannon has two parks. The Town of Lisbon has six parks, plus access to two major county parks. Lisbon is also home to two golf courses, and a third is scheduled to open in 2002.
The Bugline Recreational Trail provides a scenic and unique linear recreation experience and offers a glimpse of the area’s limestone quarry heritage. It runs 12.2 miles, located on the former Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad right-of-way. The trail is open to bicyclists, hikers and joggers. Horseback riding is allowed in designated areas.
A separate, 4’-wide bridle trail, constructed adjacent to the original 8’-wide recreation trail, extends 2.5 miles. During the winter, the trail is open to cross-country skiers and hikers. Snowmobiles are permitted on a designated portion of the trails.
