Mequon-Thiensville families live close to nature. Even in its most developed areas, Mequon has a rural character, thanks to a land use plan that demands lots of at least an acre in size.
Mequon features numerous parks and nature preserves. Rotary Park, in the northern part of the community, is the largest of the city’s active parks, with 75 acres. The park features walking paths, a playground, fishing ponds, soccer fields, baseball diamonds, picnic shelters with restrooms and a large gazebo. Community Park, setting for the Mequon City Hall and the Frank L. Weyenberg Library of Mequon-Thiensville, covers 16 acres and has a lighted baseball field, a swimming pool, a playground, a fitness course, a tot lot and picnic areas.
River Barn Park, on the city’s south side, is home to the Mequon/Thiensville Youth Football Program, soccer fields, softball diamonds, and a pavilion.

The Thiensville Village Park, located along the Milwaukee River, features baseball diamonds, tennis courts, a playground and picnic areas, and a public boat launch. Nearby, the Rotary Riverwalk is being developed along the Milwaukee River in the Town Center by the local Rotary clubs. Eventually, this tranquil walkway will extend along the banks of the Milwaukee River from Thiensville Park south to Mequon Road in Mequon.
Several of the city’s parks are passive, conservancy parks, some offering hiking and biking trails. Ozaukee County’s large Virmond Park adjoins Lake Michigan in the southeast corner of Mequon.
Mee-Kwon Park, a second county park, is located in the northern area of Mequon and features a public golf course. Local country clubs offer additional golf opportunities as well as The Bog, an Arnold Palmer signature 18-hole, par 72, championship golf course, which is located just north of Mequon in Saukville.
Organized sports and recreation programs are planned and conducted by the Mequon-Thiensville School District, using school facilities. There are programs for all ages, from junior cheerleading to dance and cooking classes, gymnastics, swimming classes, and coed track and field. Thiensville Mequon Youth Baseball Association (TMYBA) organizes a youth baseball and softball program. The Mequon soccer club coordinates soccer programs from Pee Wee’s to U-19.
The Logemann Community Center takes pride in being the “heart of the community” while serving Mequon-Thiensville residents and its neighbors. This nonprofit is a multi-faceted organization providing space for classes and private party rentals. It also features a Family Playcenter, a Middle School Summer program, teen events, monthly DJ Socials for adults with Special Needs and cultural outings for Senior Adults. It houses the T-M Library League used book cellar, THE NEW LEAF, as well as the Mequon Historical Society. Special events such as Historic Day, the Big Birthday Bash, Arbor Day, Reindeer Games and the December Kids Stuff Resale are popular community gatherings.
A variety of private recreation facilities are available in the Mequon area, including a tennis club. Ozaukee Ice Center is located in northern Mequon and features public skating, hockey leagues and rink ice for figure skaters.
In addition, local golfers revel in some of the finest golf courses in the Milwaukee area. Prime golf destinations in the Mequon-Thiensville area include the Mequon Country Club, North Shore Country Club, the award-winning course at The Bog in nearby Saukville and the county-operated Mee-Kwon Park Golf Course in Mequon. Additionally, players looking to hone their skills take advantage of the Nichol Park Driving Range.
