Geographically at the top of the Milwaukee metropolitan area, Mequon-Thiensville has been ranked among the top five suburban communities for quality of schools, safety of streets and low taxes.

Thiensville is a tiny village covering about one square mile. It is situated in the center of the City of Mequon, which encompasses 47 square miles. Thiensville is a cozy, tight-knit community. Mequon sprawls, with many home sites ranging from one acre to 10 acres and more.

One school system serves both communities with schools that are recognized for excellence. Mequon is home to a technical college and a highly rated university.

Mequon and Thiensville both provide centers for shopping, Thiensville with a traditional downtown center and Mequon with about a half-dozen large and small sophisticated shopping plazas along major thoroughfares.

An active population in the two communities fully utilizes the facilities of numerous community parks and two county parks. A huge state forest and a Lake Michigan shore state park are nearby. With a solid base of manufacturing, Mequon is a rapidly growing business center, with new office complexes springing up near Interstate 43, a route that spans the length of the city’s east side. Several business parks attract corporate and branch offices and research facilities.
